Grade 5/6 Interschool Sport – A Fantastic Start to the Year!
Our Grade 5/6 students have started the school year with great enthusiasm, and one of the highlights so far has been Interschool Sport. Every Thursday, all Grade 5/6 students proudly represent our school, showing teamwork, effort and positive sportsmanship.
This term, students have been competing in a variety of sports including basketball, volleyball, cricket, softball and tennis. They have already played two exciting rounds against other local schools, both at home and away.
In Round 1, our students played at home against Chandler Park Primary School. There were some strong results across the sports, including wins in Mixed and Girls Basketball and Mixed Tennis, as well as some very close and hard-fought games in cricket, softball and volleyball. Students showed great resilience, even when games were challenging.
In Round 2, students travelled by bus to Keysborough Gardens Primary School to play their Grade 6 teams. Once again, our students demonstrated excellent effort and teamwork, with strong wins in basketball, tennis, softball and volleyball, as well as several close matches that came down to the final moments.
A special highlight from this round was the Spirit of Sport Award, which is presented when we play Keysborough Gardens. This award recognises students who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and leadership. We are very proud to share that Ziara Osea Enua (5/6T) was presented with this award at assembly earlier this week, receiving a certificate and trophy in recognition of her positive attitude and leadership.
Over the coming weeks, Interschool Sport will continue after a short break due to the Grade 6 F1 excursion and NAPLAN. Students will play the Grade 5 teams from Keysborough Gardens at home on Thursday 20 March, followed by an away match against Sirius College on Thursday 27 March. Interschool Sport Finals will be held in Term 2 on Thursday 30 April.
We are incredibly proud of our Grade 5/6 students for the way they support one another, show respect to other schools, and represent our school with such positivity and enthusiasm. We look forward to sharing more Interschool Sport highlights throughout the year!
