Year 10 VET and Applied Science students turned up the heat (literally) by putting thermal energy concepts to the test in a hands-on cooking challenge.

Digging into the science behind Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ground ovens, they explored how earth ovens transfer and transform energy… all in the name of research, of course. 

Yes, some of the food may have come out with a light seasoning of dirt - but that just added to the authenticity (and the laughs!).

Conclusion: the science checked out, the method worked (to a degree), and the results were still delicious.
