Farm

Open Day
One of the big-ticket items for farm in Term 3 is Open Day. This year to be held on Friday 4 September 2026. Open Day showcases what the College has to offer to prospective students and parents.
On Farm, this means displaying our animals, our machinery, our farm and our skills throughout the day. In the past, students have proudly displayed their knowledge and talent in every area of the College, with many students overlapping in various areas! It is great to see the pride that is shown by those that love being in this environment.
In the lead up to Open Day the farm will be busy preparing the animals, machinery and grounds for the influx of visitors. Students will take this opportunity to finish off some of their competencies including apply chemicals, treat weeds, maintain properties and structures and fabricate and repair structures, as clean ups and fix ups are undertaken.
A list of which students will be represented in which area will come out closer to the day.
Staffing
We are still short of staff in the Farm area, though will be welcoming a new member within the next few weeks (more details in the next issue, I hope!). Some may have noticed that we have another O'Driscoll on the team from time to time! Mrs Dionne O'Driscoll has been helping out during the busy times and comes to us with a wealth of knowledge about sheep and Work Health and Safety. It's been great having Mrs O'Driscoll in to give us a hand.
Certificate II in Agriculture
Year 12s - you are now at the pointy end of your time here at the College. Days are running out fast and there is still work to be completed by many of you. Use every day available to you on Farm wisely and ensure you are getting through the required competencies. Check your rooms, laptop bags, and vehicle for long-lost paperwork. Ask your trainers for observation sheets to go out and get some observations completed. You should be self-motivated workers by now, so look at the tracking sheet each week and see what you need to complete. If you need to change to a certain area to get competencies done, please see Mrs Iles to arrange a group swap. It will be the end of term before you can blink - don't leave anything to the last minute!
Weekend Duty
There are a few Year 12 students who haven't completed their final day of weekend duty. These students are rostered on over the next few weekends. Please ensure you are here to complete your final day! If you don't finish your weekend duty allocation, you will not be deemed competent in TWO of the core competencies for Cert II. 😬
No weekend duty this weekend due to the Ball.
