We can hardly believe that Term 3 is already here! The semester is flying by, and this term promises to be one of our busiest and most exciting yet. For our Year 12 students, it marks the beginning of their final term at the College—a significant milestone as they prepare for the next stage of their journey.

Alongside their assessments, students will be participating in OLNA testing, undertaking chicken and pig trials, and helping showcase the College at our Open Day. There are many opportunities ahead for learning, growth and celebration. While we are looking forward to all that Term 3 has in store, we are also mindful that it will be our last term with an exceptional group of Year 12 students. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to supporting them as they make the most of their final months at the College.

It’s already shaping up to be a very busy term in the English Room, with plenty of creativity and meaningful learning opportunities for all students.

Our Year 12s have hit the ground running. They’ve started the term by writing persuasive speeches and creating eye-catching posters to promote a change they’re passionate about. From there, they’ll be exploring a range of texts—including speeches, advertisements, and media messages—that aim to inspire change in the world around us and toward the end of the term, the students will reflect on their own identity by creating a multimodal (multimedia) presentation based on a playlist of songs that represent who they are. It’s a wonderful way to end off their time in Year 12 English and link music with meaning and personal expression.

Our Year 11s are also off to a great start. They’re developing a career plan, exploring current job ads and learning how to write their own professional resumes and cover letters for real-world roles. After that they will study the film Rabbit-Proof Fence, where they will examine the important issues, perspectives, purpose, and ideas presented in the film. They will also analyse a range of film techniques—including camera angles, sound, symbolism, and characterisation—and explore how these techniques create meaning and influence audience perspectives.

It’s a pleasure to be working with the Year 12s in their last term at Cunderdin Ag as they prepare to head off into the workforce and begin the next exciting chapter of their lives.
