Learning and Teaching – Term 3

As Term Three draws to a close, we take the opportunity to reflect on another busy and productive term of learning at the College. We remain committed to providing every student with excellent learning opportunities and supporting them to achieve their personal best. We sincerely thank our dedicated teaching staff for their hard work, care and ongoing commitment to our students throughout the term.

Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews

Thank you to all parents and carers who took the time to meet with staff during our recent Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews. Strong communication and partnership between home and school play an important role in supporting student learning and achievement.

For students who received advice about strategies to improve their learning outcomes, now is an important time to put these recommendations into action. If you were unable to attend the interviews and would like to discuss your child’s progress, we encourage you to contact their teachers via PAM, email or phone.

NAPLAN Results

Our Year 7 and Year 9 students recently received their 2026 NAPLAN results. Families should now have received their child’s individual NAPLAN report and accompanying information in the post.

NAPLAN provides one valuable source of information about student progress in literacy and numeracy and, alongside classroom assessment and teacher judgement, helps us identify areas of strength and opportunities for further growth.

As a College, we are pleased to see areas of positive growth within our results and will continue to use this data to inform our teaching practices and targeted support for students. We encourage Year 7 and Year 9 families to take some time to review their child’s individual results and celebrate their progress and achievements.

Preparing for Unit 3 & 4 Exams

As our Unit 3 & 4 students move closer to their final VCE examinations, the upcoming holiday period provides an important opportunity to consolidate learning and complete Trial Exams.

Families can support students by helping them establish an appropriate study environment and encouraging healthy, sustainable study habits. Some simple strategies include:

• Create a quiet, well-lit study space at a desk or table, rather than studying on a bed or couch.
• Develop a realistic study schedule that also allows time for sleep, regular meals, exercise, family and relaxation.
• Minimise interruptions and distractions during study sessions, particularly mobile phones.
• Space Trial Exams across the holiday period rather than attempting too many in one day.
• Treat each Trial Exam as though it were the real examination by following the allocated reading and writing times and completing the paper under appropriate conditions.

• Keep a checklist of Trial Exams and study goals so progress can be monitored and celebrated.

   

We thank our parents, carers and families in advance for the support they will provide to our Unit 3 & 4 students during this important period. Our students have worked hard throughout the year, and we encourage each of them to approach the final stage of their studies with confidence, persistence and a commitment to achieving their personal best.

As Term Three concludes, I wish all our students, staff and families a happy, healthy and restful holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term Four and the final term of the 2026 school year.
