Student Uniform Policy 2026

At our September School Council meeting the 2026 Student Uniform Policy was approved.
The Policy has been revised in light of changes announced by the Victorian Government on the 2nd of April to support better affordability of school uniforms.
From 2026, school pants, shorts and Physical Education (PE) uniform track pants and shorts will be unbranded without any school logo and can be purchased from any supplier. Our uniform supplier Uniform Group (PSW) will offer unbranded options for families to purchase. PSW still have some remaining branded stock, families will be able to purchase these items and wear them for the life of the garment. Branded items already purchased are able to be worn for the life of the garment.
To assist families with purchasing appropriate options from alternative suppliers, we have developed a "Guide to purchasing non-branded items" which is attached below, along with our 2026 Student Uniform Policy. This guide provides specific information about uniform pieces including school and PE shoes that will support families to purchase suitable uniform items. Please ensure you read this document before purchasing items from alternative suppliers.
One other significant change to our Student Uniform Policy, in response to feedback from parents and students, concerns the wearing of PE uniform for our Year 7, 8 and 9 students.
Currently students are required to bring their PE uniform and shoes to school with them on the day they have their core practical PE classes. They are required to change in and out of their uniform unless they have PE in the afternoon and can then wear their uniform home.
From the start of 2026 we are trialling our Year 7, 8 and 9 students being able to wear their PE uniform for the whole day they have their core compulsory practical PE class. They will not need to change in and out of their uniform and can wear it for the whole day. For Year 7 and 8 students this will mean there are two days in the week where PE uniform is allowed, for our Year 9 students, it will be one day in the week the PE uniform is allowed. For all other day's normal school uniform is required, and PE uniform is not permitted.
Please read the Student Uniform Policy carefully to ensure you are aware of the changes and also those requirements which remain unchanged.
Our uniform supplier, PSW, remain able to assist with all uniform queries and requirements. They are hosting two VIP nights for Ballarat High School families on Wednesday the 26th and Thursday the 27th November. Please see the attached flyer for further information.
