What’s Happening in Careers?
Year 10
This week, students spent time exploring SEEK.com.au. They found and analysed job opportunities, compared jobs to identify common skills and qualifications, and finally reflected on their career interests and planned steps toward their “dream job.”
Year 11
UniReady 2026
Applications to be considered for the Curtin UniReady course in 2026 are now open. Students had an information session in their extended form and at lunchtime on Tuesday, where they were given information about this application.
This program is suitable for students who intend to go to university and are seeking an alternative pathway to ATAR. They need to have demonstrated that they have a good work ethic and sound English competency (a C grade in ATAR English or A in General English).
Students will select UniReady as one of their six subjects in 2026. They will also need to enrol in a Certificate IV which they complete on Friday each week. At this stage, we are asking students to indicate which Certificate IV they would be considering, but they do not need to enrol until after they have been accepted into the course. Students who are not accepted in the UniReady program can still enrol in a Certificate IV. Queries regarding these qualifications should be directed to Mrs Johnson.
Students will need to complete the online form below before 7:00 pm on Sunday, 17 August to apply. Parents will be required to sign this form to endorse the application.

If students meet the prerequisites, they will be invited to an interview in Week 5. Students will be advised of their success by Week 6.
Further information regarding UniReady should be directed to Mr Tuohy.
Year 12
Mrs Peta Paduano, Mrs Lauren Johnson and I have been actively meeting with Year 12 students to discuss pathways, scholarships, and interview preparation. If your son needs any assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out.
This term, we will focus on budgeting and managing expenses after school, as well as preparing for job applications and interviews. We have spoken about scholarships and in Week 6, we will hear from our 2024 graduates about life after school.
Last Friday, we were fortunate to host all universities for 'one-on-one' counselling sessions. Year 12 students met with the university consultants to discuss their future options, including scholarships, courses, course switching and other opportunities.
