5/6 CLASSROOM

It has been a busy fortnight in 5/6, with lots of learning happening across the classroom. Students have been working hard, showing great focus and continuing to build their skills across all areas of learning.
English
This week, we continued developing our information texts, with a particular focus on Body Paragraph 3. In this section, students have been exploring the theme of flora and fauna in Poland, learning how to organise their ideas and include interesting, relevant information for their readers.
Our reading fluency continues to grow through daily practice as part of our regular fluency routine. Throughout the week, students revisit a familiar text each day, helping them to read with greater confidence, accuracy and expression. As they become more familiar with the text, students also focus on sentence structure, vocabulary and how the text is organised. This repeated practice supports smoother reading and helps students develop a stronger understanding of what they are reading.
Maths
In Maths, we have been learning to add and subtract fractions with related and unrelated denominators. Students have been practising how to find a common denominator before working through each problem. We have also focused on simplifying answers and showing our working clearly. Students are becoming more confident when working with fractions and choosing the right strategy to solve different problems.
Religion
Exploring Conscience
Students explored the idea of conscience and how it can guide the choices we make each day. They reflected on how values, empathy and an understanding of right and wrong can help us make thoughtful decisions and act with respect, compassion and responsibility towards others.
