 3/4 CLASSROOM

In English, we wrapped up our information reports on the Coorong. The students enjoyed discussing the Coorong and the animals that live there. They also made strong connections to our previous class novel, Storm Boy. We have now started reading The Wild Robot. The students have been fascinated by how short the chapters are, with some being only two pages long!

In Spelling, we have been exploring the different ways to spell the grapheme /k/. We also met the “CK family” to help us remember when to use each spelling.

In Maths, we completed our unit on multiplication and division. The students persevered while learning to multiply and divide using written algorithms. They achieved some wonderful outcomes. We are now moving into our new unit on angles.

In RE, the students completed our current unit by reflecting on how they are known and loved by God. They also considered how they can follow in the footsteps of Jesus. The students demonstrated deep self-reflection and contributed to many thoughtful conversations.

In Sport, we continued practicing discus in preparation for our upcoming Athletics Day at the end of the term. We have been focusing on our grip, throwing stance and technique.

In Inquiry, we explored and compared three renewable energy sources: solar, hydro and wind energy. The students agreed that wind energy was the “best” of the three because of the amount of energy it can produce.

For Grandparents and Special Persons Day, the students answered questions about their special person before interviewing them to see whether their predictions were correct. This sparked many interesting and funny conversations. It was a lovely opportunity for the students to learn more about the special people in their lives.
