Spotlight on Learning
Bethlehem Community
Dear Families,

It has been another busy and rewarding week for our Year 6 students! On Wednesday, students had the privilege of attending Mass as special guests. We would also like to congratulate and celebrate all of our students who completed their Confirmation, as well as the selected students who shared their Confirmation experiences with our Year 1 and Year 2 students.
Our Year 6 students have also continued to develop and practise their sporting skills in preparation for Interschool Sport, demonstrating teamwork, persistence and a positive attitude.

A key focus across the school has been the U Have the Power Bullying Prevention Program, which supports students to recognise bullying, understand how to respond, and develop the confidence to speak up and seek help when something is not right. Our Year 6 students have engaged thoughtfully in these important conversations and are continuing to develop their skills in creating a safe, respectful and inclusive school community.
A reminder that our Book Week Parade is happening on Monday! We encourage all students to come dressed as their favourite book character and celebrate their love of reading. We can’t wait to see all the wonderful and creative costumes!
Learning For Week 7:
Religious Education: In Religious Education, students will learn how Jesus teaches us about living out our faith through our actions. Using Matthew 25:31–46, students are exploring how we can show love, compassion and care for others by responding to their needs and putting our faith into action.
English: Next week, as part of Book Week, students will explore Ningaloo by Tim Winton, Migaloo by Mark Wilson and Like the Ocean We Rise by Nicola Edwards. Students will unpack key vocabulary and develop their ability to analyse, compare and connect ideas across texts. They will also complete a grammar assessment and explore how people around the world are taking action on climate change. To finish the week, students will plan and write a 4–5-paragraph persuasive letter to the Australian Government about actions on Climate Change.

Mathematics: In Mathematics, students are using Visual–Symbol–Language (VSL) charts to represent and explain their mathematical thinking. For example, they can use place value charts, arrows, labels and equations to explain how values change when multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. Through sharing their thinking, students are developing a deeper understanding of place value and mathematical strategies.
Performing Arts: In Performing Arts, students are learning to tell stories through drama. They are exploring how movement, expression, voice and role-play can bring characters and stories to life.
Auslan: Next week in Auslan, students will work in teams to identify, practise and confidently count the Auslan signs they know.
Social & Emotional Learning: Students will explore how stereotypes can affect people and their opportunities. They will look at real-world examples and learn how human dignity reminds us to treat everyone with respect, equality and fairness.

Students who bring fidget toys without an approved adjustment will be asked to place them in their school bag for the remainder of the day to take home. We appreciate your support in encouraging your child to leave fidget toys at home.

Enjoy your weekend,
