Principal's Update

Dear families,

It has been a very good yet incredibly busy couple of weeks at St Margaret’s. There has been so much happening across our community and it has been wonderful to see the energy, enthusiasm and commitment of our students, staff and families in all that we do.

Welcome BBQ: What a fantastic night. The weather was amazing and it was wonderful to see our community gather together to welcome families and celebrate the start of the school year. Seeing everyone enjoying each other's company and making our new families feel welcome and part of our school was such a treat. The children were entertained by the amazing Nicholas Ridiculous from the Bebop Circus and there was plenty of laughter across the evening.

Personally it was so great to see families, teachers and students mingling together and making it such a memorable night. A huge thank you to our P&F President Vivianne Lang who organised and oversaw the entire evening and to all those who helped out throughout the night. Events like this truly highlight what makes St Margaret's such a special place.

School Advisory Council: We held our first School Advisory Council meeting for the year last week and it was a very productive discussion. A number of important matters relating to the life and direction of the school were explored. We are fortunate to have a fantastic group of parents involved and we look forward to welcoming some new members onto the council as we finalise this process in the coming week.

NAPLAN Upcoming: Over the coming weeks our Year 3 and Year 5 students will sit the NAPLAN assessments. Historically our students have achieved excellent results and we are very proud of their efforts. While we know that these assessments do not define our students or our school they do provide useful information about learning growth and progress.

We wish all of our students the very best as they approach these assessments. Do your best and good luck.

Prep 2027: St Margaret’s opened its doors to prospective families this week as we held our Prep 2027 Information Morning followed by school tours. We welcomed more than 90 people into our multipurpose space and shared a snapshot of the vibrant learning community we are so proud of.

I was thrilled to see our student leaders take centre stage by sharing some of their favourite memories of their time at St Margaret’s. Congratulations to Gabriella, Charlie Lottie and Alexander for their outstanding leadership. They were incredibly impressive and I received wonderful feedback about each of them.

If you have a child starting Prep in 2027 please note that enrolments are now open.

Year 3 Reconciliation: Thank you to all families who supported their children on Sunday morning as they participated in the Commitment Mass for Year 3 Reconciliation. Our Year 3 students continue their preparation for this important sacrament in the weeks ahead.

I was very impressed with the reverent and thoughtful way our students participated in the Mass and particularly our readers who did an outstanding job. Well done to all involved.

Upcoming Leave: Beginning next week I will be taking long service leave until the end of the term. I am fortunate to be participating in a pilgrimage to Greece and Turkey following in the footsteps of Saint Paul. I look forward to sharing some of my experiences with you when I return. In the meantime the school will be in very capable hands with Ms Vicky as Acting Principal along with our wonderful leadership team who provide such strong support to our community.

God Bless,

 John
