Sacrament of Penance

The Sacrament of Penance is a powerful reminder of God’s endless mercy and love. It invites us to reflect on our choices, seek forgiveness when we fall short, and renew our relationship with God and one another. Through this sacrament, students learn to take responsibility, express sincere sorrow, and experience the grace and healing that forgiveness brings.

This year, 28 children from Year 3 will celebrate the Sacrament of Penance on 18 March at 1:00pm at St. Mary’s Church, Ascot Vale. Students preparing to receive the sacrament have been given a Practical Details Information Sheet and an excursion form to travel to the church by tram. Please complete and return the excursion slip by Wednesday 11 March.

Parents and carers are warmly encouraged to attend the liturgy. If you are unable to be present, a teacher will accompany and present your child to Father Desmond or

Father Joseph on the day.

Please keep the following children in your prayers as they prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation:

Year 3 Reconciliation Immersion Day

Our Year 3 students recently took part in a special Immersion Day as they prepared to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Throughout the day, the children explored the meaning of forgiveness, mercy, and making good choices through the story of The Prodigal Son.

Students were encouraged to think about how they can show kindness, say sorry with sincerity, and repair relationships with others. The day provided a calm and supportive space for learning, reflection, and spiritual growth as they continue their journey towards receiving the sacrament.
