Lenten Prayer

Merciful God,

Guide me through this holy season of Lent,

as I seek repentance and renewal through

Prayer, fasting, and acts of love.

May the grace of Christ strengthen me to carry my cross

faithfully and prepare my heart

For the joy of Easter.

In Christ’s name we pray,

Amen.

Lent: Listening, Fasting and Walking Together

This Lenten message from the Holy Father, Pope Leo I, reminds us to place God at the centre of our lives and grow closer to him.

We are invited to listen carefully to God’s word, just as God listened to his people and called Moses to help them. Listening helps us notice those who are hurting and respond with love.

Fasting helps us grow in self-control and kindness. It is not only about giving up food, but also about choosing loving words. We are encouraged to “fast” from hurtful speech — avoiding gossip, harsh comments, and unkind words — and instead speak with respect, encouragement, and peace.

Lent is a journey we share as a community. By praying, listening and supporting one another as we follow Jesus Christ, we help build a school and community filled with hope, kindness and love.

DOLLAR MATCH DAY IS COMING!

Wednesday, 4 March, every donation St Margaret's Primary School - Maribyrnong raises online for Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion will be MATCHED by a generous supporter, up to a cap of $50,000 – doubling your donations and their impact!

That’s right...

A $50 donation will become $100
A $100 donation will become $200
A $200 donation will become $400

Dollar Match Day starts at 10.00 (AEDT) and will run until our $50,000 matched funding cap is reached. Make sure you set a reminder and get ready to act fast, as this opportunity is open to all our schools, parishes and individual fundraisers – and once the funds are gone, they’re gone!

*Donations will be matched up to $1,000 per individual donation – individual donations over $1,000 will not be matched.
