Library News

The start of the 2026 school year has been a busy and exciting time in the library. We extend a warm welcome to all students, especially our new Year 7 cohort, as well as those returning for another year of learning and discovery.
It is always a pleasure to see students come to recognise the library as both a vibrant hub of ideas and a calm, supportive space within the school.
The library is open and available to students across the entire school day. Students may visit before school from 8:00am, during recess and lunchtime, and after school until 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 4:00pm on Fridays.
Homework Club is also held in the library each Wednesday afternoon after school, providing a supportive environment for study and completion of tasks.
Encouraging students to develop a genuine and lasting enjoyment of reading remains central to our work. Each year, we proudly support student participation in the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge. All Year 7 students are involved in the challenge through their library lessons, and students from other year levels are welcome to participate by speaking with a member of the library team.
Our fiction collection continues to grow, with a wide selection of engaging and contemporary titles that appeal to diverse interests and reading abilities. New books are added regularly, and staff are always happy to provide personalised reading recommendations.
Students also have access to Wheeler’s eBooks and audiobooks via the star icon on Compass, offering convenient digital borrowing options.
During recess and lunchtime, students may enjoy our range of board games and puzzles, and throughout the year we host interactive activities such as Kahoot! quizzes and creative workshops aligned with significant dates and celebrations.
In Week 4, the library celebrated Library Lovers’ Day on Monday February 16th. Students enthusiastically took part in a romance-themed Kahoot! competition and embraced the fun of selecting a “Blind Date with a Book.” It was wonderful to see so many students involved and enjoying the festivities.
We invite you to enjoy the accompanying photos from our Library Lovers’ Day celebrations and we look forward to sharing images from our upcoming Stranger Things display and week of activities.
