Our Houses are named after Australians who demonstrated the qualities we value at Brookside College: Respect, Resilience, Rights and Relationships. Their achievements remind us that positive actions can make a lasting difference in our communities.
Newton House – Olivia Newton-John
Olivia Newton-John was a much-loved Australian singer, actress and philanthropist. She showed resilience through her cancer journey and used her platform to support and help others.
Irwin House – Steve Irwin
Steve Irwin was a passionate wildlife conservationist who dedicated his life to protecting animals and educating people about the natural world. He demonstrated respect, courage and a commitment to making a positive difference.
Stynes House – Jim Stynes
Jim Stynes was an AFL player and community leader who inspired others through his determination, generosity and resilience. He worked tirelessly to support young people and those facing challenges.
Freeman House – Cathy Freeman
Cathy Freeman is one of Australia's greatest athletes and an inspiring role model. Through her hard work, perseverance and sportsmanship, she showed resilience and brought people together with pride and respect.
The House competition continues to be closely contested, with students earning one House point for every 4R Superstar award they receive. Current House standings are:
