In Grade 3 we have been reading different types of information texts. We have been learning about text features and learning how to search for and find information. We have continued participating in guided reading groups. We love receiving our new book and meeting up with our group to discuss the text.
In Writing, we have been watching lots of videos about dinosaurs, learning how to take notes and how to turn these notes into sentences. We have been writing facts and adding text features to our writing. We have also been focusing on many new spelling rules.
In Maths, we have been learning how to add and subtract using a number line. We have also been learning how to tell time using an analogue clock.
In Science, we are learning about heat and have enjoyed our first investigation looking at how hot or cold different items are.
In Health we have been learning about lots of different things. We have learnt about emotions and about bullying.
In Humanities, we have been learning about different celebrations around the world. We have started a project based on a celebration of our choice.
We are looking forward to our first Athletics Carnival!
We are proud of all our students' efforts, positive mindsets and look forward to acknowledging and celebrating their accomplishments with them throughout these units.

Year 4
In 4A and across the year 4 cohort, we had the privilege of some parents sharing our learning space during education week. The students in 4A really enjoyed it!
We have been busy with analysing, summarising, questioning and building our fluency during reading about the Trojan War.
In writing, we are doing a fabulous job putting together our information reports about Ancient Greece. Making sure to add sub-headings, topic sentences, topic specific words and signpost words.
During math, students have been working hard at learning about multiplication, division and 3D shapes.
In addition, the year 4’s are enjoying our science topic on different kinds of energy.
Happy week 6 everyone!

Year 5
The Grade 5’s have been super busy this term!
Read to see what we have be doing:
In English, we have been we’ve been reading a book called Bindi. It is written by an Indigenous Australian about her life experiences. We have been responding to the text by inferring author choices.
We have begun to explore the T.E.E.L structure when writing information paragraphs in writing. T.E.E.L stands for Topic sentence, Evidence, Explain and Link! We have been using this tool when writing about a natural disaster.
In Maths, we have been we’ve been learning about different multiplication strategies. We have learnt about multiples, factors and now the area model and algorithm strategies. We will begin to investigate division strategies.
In Science, we have been learning about shadows, and light reflection and refraction through some hands-on tasks and experiments. We got to design a house to sustain a hot or cold climate.
In other news, some of us Grade 5's got selected to compete in Interschool Sports with the grade 6’s. That was an amazing experience, and we hope we get into the finals, and win!
Education week just passed and the activity we had was a scavenger hunt. We looked at all the amazing things about our school by solving riddles before running to the next clue. We even got donuts to celebrate.
We are looking forward to our excursion to Sovereign Hill because we have been learning about the Victorian Gold Rush in Humanities and we can wait to go into a mining tunnel, pan for REAL gold and learn about life in the 1850’s.

Year 6
ENGLISH
In Reading and Writing we have been learning about hybrid texts, and the best part about it is we got to make our own about either dry and wet, bushfires, or World War 1. We have now moved on to reading a text called “Sister Heart.” The book is about a girl who was apart of the Stolen Generation.
MATHS
The last two weeks in math we have been doing multiplication, division, time, composite, prime, square, and triangular numbers, and square roots. We have used vertical algorithm and area model to solve two-digit multiplication questions.
ISS
In Interschool sports year 6 have been playing Netball, Hockey, Footy, Tee ball and Soccer. It has been so fun! The netball mixed team, footy mixed team and hockey girls team made it to the next round. Districts in on the 24th of June 2026.
SMP/BUDDIES
In SMP the year sixes have been split into 10 groups. Every week they pick 5 activities then go to the gym and rotate through different activities. They show the kids what to do and they go and do it. They help them if they need some help.
SCIENCE
In Science, we have been learning about electricity. We make circuits with batteries, switches, wires, and lights. We sometimes have some people who sneakily mess up something in the circuit, and some other people are troubleshooters and try to fix it!
HUMANITIES
Our past few humanities lessons we have each chosen out of three historic men who were the reason behind federation. Our choices were Alfred Deakin who Deakin university was named after.
Our next option was Henry Parkes and our third was Edmond Barton.
We all created a poster or a PowerPoint/slideshow.
We named many things about them on our presentations. Their names, where they grew up, where they were born, their country of origin, and many more.
