Production Update | Rehearsals and Design Workshops
Rehearsals for our 2025 College Production, 'Beauty and the Beast Jr', are well underway. With all cast members working with our supportive staff to master vocals, lyrics, choreography and more, we are all thrilled with how the show is turning out so far and excited to see its finale result. Our talented cast dedicate their time to the show on a Tuesday and Wednesday night as well as putting in extra lunch rehearsals to make sure we are making the show as amazing as possible. This term, our brand new 'Set Design Crew' team have been working on the incredible set design, in their Wednesday after school workshops held in B16. They have been doing a range of sketching, designing and painting to create the stage pieces, props and other aspects that are necessary to pull our show to life.
Production Crew Sign Ups!
So many of you have been asking... and the time is here! We are officially ready for CREW SIGN UPS! If you would like to join the production crew and work backstage – come along to the official sign-up meeting Monday 2nd June, RECESS in PA1.
If you miss the meeting, forms and information on how to get involved will be on compass newsfeed. Forms will need to be returned by Friday 6th June.
The crew cover a lot of different roles, all crucial to putting on a show. Whether you are making and organising costumes, lighting the stage, working the sound desk, moving sets, operating curtains, taking footage and photos of the action – we need enthusiastic students to join the team!
Primary School Production Partnership
We are thrilled to announce the return of Pakenham Springs Primary School on stage again this year in our production of Beauty and the Beast. The Performing Arts Captains, Hayley Artup (who plays Lefou), and Ms Lentini, have been preparing for our upcoming visit to the school to teach them their dance and rehearse with all the children. We are excited to share the stage with them again after the success of the collaboration last year.
Instrumental Music
In Instrumental Music, all lessons have been running every week including guitar lessons which have started recently. To all students involved in instrumental music, please keep an eye on your schedule and arrive on time for these lessons. If you want to join the program, come visit the teachers in Performing Arts to collect a form. Some spots are becoming available to add new students to lessons, so make the most of the opportunity while you can! There will be an Instrumental Music showcase evening coming up on the 26th of June in PA1, keep your eyes out for announcements on how to score tickets!
Lunchtime Ensembles, Band and Performing Arts Club
Over the year, other extracurriculars have begun in the Performing Arts program at our school, including, Band (running Tuesday lunch time), Choir (running Thursday lunchtime), and a Guitar ensemble (running every Wednesday at lunch). These are great clubs to join to get more involved in the school and show your talent! We have also just launched the 2025 Performing Arts Club! It has had great success so far and we are thrilled with the support we have received. So far, we have run things such as prop work, improv, and puppetry with so much more fun and exciting workshops to come, show up to PA1 every Friday at Lunch to get involved!!
Victorian State Schools Spectacular - Mass Dance Group
We have a huge group of students involved in the Victorian State School Spectacular this year.
