Sustainability and Gardening Club

Summer has been a busy time in the school garden!

This fortnight our Gardening club potted up a variety of succulents and indoor plants in preparation for plant sales through the year.   We also harvested some produce, including squash, garlic, cucumber and lettuce.

Our combined effort at school saved over 25 litres of compost and 300 cans and bottles from landfill this fortnight.  Thanks to everyone who placed their rubbish into the correct bins.

We have a couple of sustainable events coming up that we would like to let you know about.

On Monday the 16th of March our school will be running a School Clean Up Day.  All students from Prep through to Grade 6 will pick up rubbish from our school grounds so that we can make our school cleaner, greener and more sustainable.

We also want to let everyone know about Ride to School Day, which will be happening at school on Friday the 20th of March. The aim is to encourage travel to school on this day without using a car - maybe you could ride, scooter, roller blade, walk, skateboard, run or skip?  What transport could you use as a more sustainable way to get to school?
