Teaching & Learning Update

NAPLAN 2026

This term, our year 3 and 5 will complete NAPLAN assessments over two weeks.

NAPLAN is a national literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit every year. It is the only national assessment all Australian students have the opportunity to undertake. The 2026 testing window will run from Wednesday 11th of March until Friday 20th of March. More information will be shared with our Year 3 & 5 families via Compass regarding NAPLAN.

What is happening at Wollert Primary School in Literacy and Numeracy?

Explicit Teaching Focus

At Wollert Primary School, we use explicit teaching to help all students succeed. Teachers clearly explain and model new learning so students know what they are learning and how to be successful. Lessons include clear learning goals, step-by-step teaching, guided practice, and time for students to work independently. Teachers regularly check for understanding and give feedback to support student progress. This approach ensures learning is clear, structured, and supportive for every student.

How can you support you child at home?

At Wollert Primary School we acknowledge the importance of school life balance. We understand that families have other commitments outside of school times which are just as important as learning. Where possible, we encourage students to be reading for 15-20 mins per day.

The infographic shows the benefits of reading everyday and the significant impact it has on your child.
