2026 Theme for Wollert Primary School: Empowerment
Dear Wollert Primary School Families,
After settling in after our Start Program in 2026, the students have been working on our class routines and expectations to facilitate learning. We have a strong focus on becoming better versions of ourselves each day, which involves demonstrating our school values through our actions.
Our school values are:
- Brilliant
- Curious
- Kind
- Joyful
We are celebrating these values with positive recognition, Dojo points, and cards for outside breaks. It has been brilliant to see students embodying these values by taking care of the school environment, helping classmates in need, or focusing on their work in class to strive for progress. Keep up the great work, students! I cannot wait to see continued learning as we hold each other to high expectations. One of highlights of my day is my learning walks each day seeing students focused on their learning. We are also looking forward to having Prep (Foundation) students five days a week next week, bringing the whole school community together with 651 students. Thank you to the staff for commitment and dedication to recognise the positive behaviours that we see with 284 recorded positive achnowledgement recorded on Compass in 2026.
As previously communicated, we will be holding Meet the Teacher Interviews this Thursday, February 26th, from 12:00pm to 8:00pm. Student attendance at these interviews is essential, as they focus on the students. These interviews provide valuable opportunities for students, parents or guardians, and teachers to foster positive relationships and gain deeper insights into our learners by:
- Sharing information about the student’s interests and learning behaviors
- Discussing the student’s health and wellbeing
- Providing specific feedback on student achievement and progress
- Understanding how to support the student in their learning
- Establishing goals for improved learning and achievement in the future
During the interviews, teachers and students will discuss the wellbeing and learning goals that have been set. Students, teachers, and parents/carers will collaborate on strategies for home and school that will support student success. Teachers will also invite parents/carers to share any information or questions they wish to discuss. The students participating in Student Support Group meetings will start this process for 2026 during these interviews.
We will also have a limited number of spots available for families to schedule time with our specialist teachers as we celebrate the excellence of our programs at Wollert Primary School. All relevant information about interviews is available on Compass and in the communicated in Compass newsfeeds. Thank you to our Reporting and Assessment Leaders, Luke Jarrett and Claire Dyson, for their leadership in making these interviews a process that strengthens the learning opportunities for our students.
On Tuesday, February 17th, we held our final School Council meeting with our 2025 members. On behalf of Wollert Primary School, we would like to thank all School Council members for volunteering their time and professional and personal experiences while contributing to our School's operations.
We have several members whose current tenures will conclude in March 2026. I want to thank the following Parents and DET staff for their contributions:

As a school community, we take pride in celebrating and acknowledging the rich cultural and religious diversity of our families. In the coming weeks, many of our students will be observing Ramadan, a significant and sacred time in the Islamic calendar.
Ramadan is a month dedicated to fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. During this time, students who are fasting will refrain from food and drink during daylight hours and will break their fast at sunset. While some children may only fast for part of the month or on selected days, it can still be a meaningful and sometimes physically challenging experience.

We are committed to supporting all students and staff during this period. Our staff will continue to show understanding and flexibility, especially during physical activities and meal times, to ensure that students who are fasting feel comfortable, respected, and included. We wish all our families observing Ramadan a peaceful and blessed month.
Have a lovely week of learning,
Have a lovely weekend,
Kind regards,
Justin Lania
