We are well and truly halfway through the school term. The end is approaching very quickly. Grade three and five students have commenced NAPLAN testing. Remember this is a snapshot of your child's current learning level. It can cause some nervous energy amongst the student group. Please have a conversation around supporting their emotional needs during this time. If you have any concerns, reach out to the classroom teacher.

Parent teacher conferences will be held on the final Wednesday of term one. If you have had a Student Support Group meeting already this term, you are not required however, you are welcome. Students will finish school at midday on this day. You will need to organise an early collection before the Parent Teacher meetings begin.

Students have been practising for the District athletic sports within their PE lessons. Some students will attend this event on the 19th March and will represent George Street beautifully.

Please have a think about this year's ANZAC Day parade. It will occur on Saturday the 25th April, term two. Last year we participated with a small collection of students marching, our Captains laying a wreath. If you would like your child to participate, please inform the school office as we will need to prepare for numbers. Families are expected to transport their children to Gray street, where the event will commence and then collect them at the end of the service at the Cenotaph. Students must be wearing full school uniform to participate. I will supervise students as they march, however as this is an out of hours event, parents will be responsible for their children, not the school.

Staff participated in a Managing Challenging Behaviour professional development day last Tuesday. This was a fantastic opportunity to complete our suite of learning offered by a behaviour management specialist group. I hope all the staff enjoyed the day and were able to add some tools to add to our behaviour support toolkits.

As some of you may have noted, I was away for a week of unplanned leave. This was to manage a family medical event. Thank you to all the staff who stepped up to cover my absence. It is always hard to be absent, however the staff looked after the school and students beautifully.
