News from the Library

Welcome back to Term 4!
Term 4 in the Library means an increasing number of students coming in to study, waiting for an exam to start, celebrating and debriefing after an exam, and getting those assignments finished. Even during busy lunchtime sessions there is always a quiet room waiting for anyone who needs some time to study or complete schoolwork. The community jigsaw and nine letter word puzzle are also available for brain breaks!
Library loans
The start of Term 4 is a great time to make sure that Library loans are up to date. All students receive weekly reminders of their outstanding loans, but despite this many still have overdue books.
Please encourage your students to check the books they have on loan via the Library catalogue (use the star dropdown list in Compass). Once signed in, they need to hover over their name in the top right hand corner to see a list of options, and choose Loans. They can then see everything they have on loan and if it is overdue. There are no penalties for returning/renewing overdue books.
Remember – Library books are a shared commodity and need to be returned so others can enjoy reading them. Thanks for your help!
Halloween in the Library
A little bit of a spooky vibe has drifted into the Library as Halloween approaches. Students who need help choosing their next read can roll a D20 dice and follow the instructions. It is a great way to find a new read!
Artisan of the Month
The final 2026 AotM is now open! Were you busy creating over the holidays? Would you like to show Wantirna College your creative side? Send a photo of your creation(s) to Artisan of the Month and you might win a prize!
Open to Students, Staff, and Family & Friends, and anything creative counts - photos, drawings, sewing, knitting, carpentry, pottery, origami, an original piece of music, decorated cake etc. - so long as it can be submitted digitally (eg photo or sound recording).
If you have created something you are proud of send an email with a photo to library@wantirnacollege.vic.edu.au and include the statement I declare this is all my own work. Please include in the email subject line Artisan of the Month. Entries close 8pm Sunday 25th October (end week 3)
Community Book Club
Apologies for the short notice in cancelling this week’s Community Book Club. Keep an eye out for the next meeting date! A reminder that we are currently reading Flames, by Robbie Arnott, and will discuss which book to read over the summer at the next meeting. Looking forward to seeing everyone (even if you haven’t had a chance to read Flames!)
