Week 1

We spent our session in week 1 finishing our weaving projects from Term 3.

For the F/1/2s it was butterflies and for the 3/4/5/6s it was their loom weaving. 

They look absolutely fantastic and everyone should be so proud of their creations.

Week 2 

We started our new unit on Printmaking.

We discussed one of the elements of art: texture.

 Art can be made to feel textured or just look like it would feel textured. We named different ways to describe the texture of the things around us.

Hard, soft, smooth, rough, bumpy etc.

We made crayon rubbings of stencils and different textured objects around the Art Room, then went on a texture hunt around the school grounds.

Today was all about experimenting and the process of this technique so we used recycled shopping bags and scrap paper.

Some of the students' favourite textures were:

"The bottom of my shoe" 

"The wooden seat"

"leaves"

"bricks"

We will be moving on to using paint and ink to stamp shape and textures, and learning about the history behind printmaking in the weeks to come.
