Grade F/1/2

Welcome to Term 4!
We have kicked off the final term of 2026 with a busy two weeks in F/1/2.
LITERACY
We have jumped straight back into our Reading groups, with a strong focus on consolidation. Across our room, we are engaging in a range of Literacy activities to support our letter-sound knowledge, broader phonics knowledge and building routines in our Book Club groups.
Our Writing focus for the beginning of the term is Narrative, and stories. We have been working hard on our sentence knowledge, and the structure of a story. Over the next few weeks, the children will be focusing on making their own books!
NUMERACY
Place Value and Counting have been our area of focus in Weeks 1 & 2, and we are now moving into consolidation for our Addition & Subtraction work. The children have been working hard using concrete materials to support our understanding of whole number, and part-whole concepts.
INQUIRY
Our Inquiry focus in Term 4 is all about History! We began this unit by focusing on the Zoo, and how people's perspecitives and understandings of animals (and their nature) has changed over time. We were lucky enough to spend last Friday on a trip to the Melbourne Zoo - something we've been looking forward to for a long time!
We will use what we learnt about the Zoo to inform our Inquiry and Discovery sessions over the next two weeks.
Moving into our last term, most of our important dates will remain the same:
MONDAY - Take new readers home
TUESDAY - Garden to Kitchen
WEDNESDAY - Sport
THURSDAY - Art and Music
FRIDAY - Return readers, return and borrow Library books
I look forward to another busy term our the F/1/2 space.
Miss Turner
