SCIENCE
Preps
The Prep students have been learning about “Finding Features.” They used their five senses outdoors to investigate the different features of the school yard. The following week, they explored how leaves change, identified the different features of leaves, and planted a bean seed. Over the next few weeks, they will observe the growth of their bean plant, identify plants in the garden that need bees to survive and continue caring for their marigold on the veranda.

1/2s
The Year 1/2 students have been investigating Chemical Science through their unit, “Spot the Difference.” They observed a Zooper Dooper melting in the sun and discussed the changes that occurred. They also explored the differences in spaghetti when it was heated and investigated what could be done with uncooked spaghetti. (All food items used in the investigations were expired products.)

ART
Prep Shape robots
Prep students have been investigating shapes and using a collage techniques created robots from geometric shapes.
Year 5/6 constructed models of Pioneer homes from cardboard and natural materials. They had to problem solve, try different techniques and attachment methods to best suit their creation. Some students were so invested in their house they chose to continue work during lunchtime! These are on display in the multipurpose room. They look fabulous!
Year 1/2 are exploring the properties of clay, a wonderfu; medium to work with. We have been practising rolling coils, rolling out slabs, rolling spheres and using the 4 S's to join clay together (scratch, slop on slip, stick and smooth!)
Stay tuned for their finished creations.
