Grade 3-6:

Term 2, May 2026 Newsletter

It has been a fantastic start to Term 2, with students across all year levels settling back into their routines and engaging enthusiastically in their learning. Classrooms are filled with curiosity, creativity and a strong focus on developing key skills in Reading, Writing and Maths.

Grade 3/4A:

In Reading, the Grade 3/4A class are exploring the book 'Uncle Xbox' which is written by Jared Thomas. This engaging text has sparked meaningful discussions and is helping students build their comprehension, vocabulary and understanding of characters and themes. In Writing, the class is focusing on Information Reports. Students are learning how to research topics, organise their ideas using clear subheadings and present factual information in a structured and engaging way.

 

In Maths, students are learning all about Addition and Subtraction. They are developing efficient mental and written strategies and applying these skills to solve a variety of real world problems.

Grade 5A:

The Grade 5A class is reading the book 'The Goldfish Boy' which is written by Lisa Thompson. Students are enjoying the mystery of the novel while strengthening their comprehension skills through prediction, inference and discussion. In Writing, students are developing their Information Report skills across a range of interesting topics, including countries, famous people, animals and more. They are learning how to research effectively, take notes and present information clearly using appropriate structure and language features.

 

In Maths, students are focusing on Addition and Subtraction, as well as BODMAS. They are learning how to apply the correct order of operations and use efficient strategies to solve multi step problems.

Grade 6A:

The Grade 6 A class is studying 'Us Mob Walawurru' by David Spillman and Lisa Wilyuka. This text is providing valuable opportunities for discussion and reflection, while supporting students in developing deeper comprehension and analytical thinking skills. In Writing, students are learning about Factual Recounts and Character Analysis. They are focusing on writing clearly and accurately about events, as well as analysing characters by exploring their traits, actions and motivations.

 

In Maths, students are working on Fractions and 3D Shapes. They are developing their understanding of equivalent fractions, operations with fractions and exploring the properties of three dimensional shapes.

Looking Ahead

Term 2 is shaping up to be another exciting and productive term. We look forward to seeing students continue to grow in confidence, independence and their love of learning across all areas. Thank you to all families for your ongoing support.

3 Way Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews Begin.

Friday the 26th of June:

Student Free Day (Staff Planning Day).
