News from the Rowing Sheds
Mr Andrew Pinelli, Rowing Coordinator
Our 15 representatives did an amazing job representing SMC at the Australian Rowing Championships (the Nationals) last week. Our rowers, and the organisers, were challenged not only with some very strong competition but also a power outage along with some of Tassie’s best weather, including wind, rain and cold.
Heats started early on Monday morning and continued during the day for most of our rowers. Special congratulations to Sarah Thomas and Imogen Stewart, who finished on the podium in third place with the bronze medal in the School Girls Double event. An amazing achievement given the event started with 32 entries from around the country.

Other notable achievements:
U17 Single – Matilda Cunningham
Tilly came 5th in her heat, which meant she had a second row in the repechage. Here, she placed 4th, which was an amazing achievement, and she recorded a time that would have qualified her for the semi-final in three of the other races.
U17 Double
Evie Bresnehan and Matilda Cunningham – 4th in repechage
Mia Brooks and Charlotte Brimfield – 4th in repechage
U17 School Girl coxed Quad
