Big Freeze - Friday 12 June
BIG FREEZE STAFF REVEAL — STUTEY
Representing Art/Design (and the world of wood and metal), Stutey is stepping up for this year’s Big Freeze to support MND and good people doing it tough.
As Seymour College’s Year 12 Coordinator, Stutey is someone almost everyone at school — and probably around Seymour too — knows. Outside of school, he’s also a proud member of the Seymour Lions Club. Known as the “mean guy” by some students (his words, not ours), most would also tell you he’s actually a big softy underneath. Students would probably also say: “Stop hitting me!”
Fun facts? He swims every morning, plays the spoons 🥄, loves sour straps and strawberry yoghurt, and somehow still finds time for Bluey. One thing he definitely does NOT want from the spinning wheel? Slime.
Big Freeze 12 is coming ❄️

BIG FREEZE STAFF REVEAL — MR LOVINI
History will remember this decision… Representing Humanities — and one of Seymour College’s Year 10 Coordinators — Mr Lovini has officially joined the Big Freeze lineup in support of MND.
Before teaching, Mr Lovini worked in kitchens after leaving school (which he says built resilience — chefs can get a bit wild throwing pots and pans around) before moving into social welfare. His passion for cooking explains his obsession with MasterChef and why he’s well known for his killer curries.
Students would likely say Mr Lovini loves a chat and, after checking with his Year 10s, apparently he’s not actually strict or mean — just extremely sassy.
Mr Lovini also has a creative side, enjoying art and even having artwork displayed in the National Gallery. When he’s not teaching, he’s usually doing his best to avoid spiders and hoping the spinning wheel stays far away from chocolate sauce.
Cheerful, sassy and honest — Mr Lovini is ready for Big Freeze 12

BIG FREEZE STAFF REVEAL — KHAMILLE COTIANGCO - ADMIN
Representing Admin, Khamille has unwillingly joined the Big Freeze lineup after being nominated by another staff member — but she’s being a great sport. Khamille is one of the amazing ladies who keep the front office running, somehow remembering everyone’s names and faces while speaking multiple languages too!
Before joining the school, she worked as a teacher, waitress, receptionist, pharmacy dispensary technician and customer advisor at NAB. Students would probably say one thing: “I’m taller than her!”. Originally from the Philippines, this year marks 10 years in Australia. Outside of school, she enjoys camping, DIY house renovations and Filipino street food.
Short, simple and sweet — Khamille is ready for Big Freeze 12

BIG FREEZE STAFF REVEAL — MS STOPP - ENGLISH
Representing English, Ms Stopp is one of this year’s slightly unwilling participants after being very convincingly talked into the Big Freeze by students — despite this, she is always one of the first staff to support school events and get behind a good cause.
Before teaching, Ms Stopp worked several retail jobs (including the dream job — JB Hi-Fi ), in out of school hours care and tutoring. Her very first job? Newspaper delivery for a whopping $5 per completed route.
Ms Stopp describes herself as persistent, sincere, and quirky — or stubborn, a little too honest, and awkward, depending on who you ask (in this case, a thesaurus does the trick).
Outside of school, she loves sewing (you may have even seen her wearing her own creations), enjoys Okonomiyaki, and once fostered a VIB — Very Important Bunny who quickly became a permanent family member. Fun fact? Mrs Stopp somehow always remembers when someone’s birthday is approaching, and she has had two pieces of writing published at her university’s literary magazine.

BIG FREEZE STAFF REVEAL – VM - MRS MACHERAS
Our final staff reveal is the person who has been the driving force behind the Seymour College Big Freeze for years — but for the first time, she has agreed to be in the hot seat herself!
Representing Vocational Major, Mrs Macheras (known simply as Lisa to many senior students — a long-standing VCAL/VM tradition) is stepping up for her very first Big Freeze.
Lisa's mum passed away from MND last year and, after seeing firsthand how devastating the disease can be, she is passionate about raising awareness and funds to help find a cure.
Before teaching, Lisa worked at La Porchetta and in residential care. Students would probably describe her as very loud — especially on event days, when the stress kicks in, the voice gets louder and VM students know it might be best to keep a safe distance
One thing she definitely does NOT want from the spinning wheel? Anything involving strong smells
Now it's Lisa's turn to see what Big Freeze 12 has in store ❄️

BIG FREEZE STAFF REVEAL – SPECIAL EDUCATION - HUGH
Representing Special Education, Hugh has officially joined the Big Freeze lineup — although according to his answers, he definitely did not agree to this
As the son of our maintenance legend John, Hugh has become a familiar face around Seymour College and is known for for his fun personality, easy-going nature and ability to connect with students.
Before joining the school, Hugh worked in a Thai shop. His hidden talent? Juggling. When he's not at school, you'll find him following the footy, supporting Essendon and enjoying plenty of watermelon.
Young, fun and always up for a laugh, Hugh is ready for Big Freeze 12 ❄️

BIG FREEZE STAFF REVEAL – MATHS - MR LOMBARD
Representing Maths, Mr Lombard is stepping up for Big Freeze 12 to support a great cause and proudly represent the Maths department.
Having traded the green fields of Ireland for Seymour College, Mr Lombard has become well known around school for one thing — calling everyone "lads"
Before teaching, he worked as a labourer in Perth, an event labourer, a shop assistant and, in his own words, a terrible barista. Fun fact? Mr Lombard has an extra vertebrae.
Outside of school, he enjoys playing hurling at Gaelic Park, watching Clarkson's Farm and enjoying a good roast dinner, cheese, crackers and relish.
Whether he's teaching Maths, talking to the lads or representing another proud Irishman in our Big Freeze lineup, Mr Lombard is ready for Big Freeze 12

BIG FREEZE STAFF REVEAL – PE - MR SLATTERY
Representing PE, one of our favourite Irish imports and Seymour College's other Year 10 Coordinator, Mr Slattery has officially joined the Big Freeze lineup. When asked why he agreed to do it, his response was, "I have absolutely no idea why!" Before quickly adding that it's for a great cause and a bit of good craic.
Before teaching, Mr Slattery spent five summers delivering mattresses and furniture — a job that probably prepared him well for dealing with teenagers. Students would likely describe him as pretty blunt, while Mr Slattery's hidden talent is apparently looking busy.
Outside of school, you'll find him following soccer, AFL and Irish football. Fun fact? He's cousins with Geelong player Mark O'Connor and his biggest fear is Mr Lombard when he's hangry
Whether he's teaching PE, coordinating Year 10s or trying to convince everyone he's working hard, Mr Slattery is ready for Big Freeze 12 ❄️

BIG FREEZE STAFF REVEAL — SARAH GETHING – WELLBEING
Representing Wellbeing, Sarah is stepping up for this year’s Big Freeze in support of a cause she has proudly supported from the very beginning. Every winter, she wears her MND beanie to help spark conversations and raise awareness.
Before joining Seymour College, Sarah worked at Subway, as a Registered Nurse and a Phlebotomist — proving she’s always been in the business of helping people.
Students would probably say one thing: “I like Sarah.” Outside of school, Sarah loves the beach, nature, cake, chocolate and cheering on Collingwood She also has a ram named Curly. Sarah also has the coolest hidden talent - Pole exercise/dancing
