VPC Report

VPC have been very busy re planting their garden beds recently.  Students completed multiple trips to Bunnings to ensure they had the correct plants for this time of year.  Instead of planting veggies, this time around the students opted for flowers.  Once planted the students then constructed frames and a netting to help keep the plants safe.  All students will share in the responsibility of watering and looking after the plants.

Red & Blue Room Report from Ms Gatz

On Wednesday 27 May, the students of Red and Blue Room joined millions of children across Australia in celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime by reading Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller. Students enjoyed sharing in the joy of reading, storytelling, and connection through a variety of engaging activities, including sequencing tasks and sensory-based experiences.

A highlight of the day was pretending to be the characters from the story and playing soccer just like Luna Roo! It was wonderful to see everyone actively participating and having so much fun while building their literacy and social skills.

National Reconciliation Week is a time to learn about and reflect on ways that all Australians can move forward together. The students of Red and Blue Room explored the importance of equality, acceptance, peace, and respect, while learning about strengthening the bond between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

This year’s theme, “All In,” encourages all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. Red and Blue Room students came together to create a collaborative artwork that symbolised unity and connection. They also listened to a Dreamtime story, learned about First Nations art, and explored the significance of the Aboriginal Flag. Through these experiences, students developed a deeper appreciation and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories.

SM Assembly

On the 22 May, it was our turn to present at our assembly. We had been practising all week, as we were both excited and nervous about presenting our work. We have had a massive term so far, so we had to think about what work we enjoyed the most.

We chose the following items:

•  Viking writing – Nordic Runes

•  Woodwork

•  Persuaive writing – letters to someone about something that we are passionate about

•  Science experiment.

We were nervous, but we enjoyed showcasing our work. A big shoutout and thankyou to Lucinda, for doing “Welcome to Country” at the opening of our assembly.

We hope you enjoy reading our article.
