Year 3/4 Report from Mrs Pollard
This term, students have been enthusiastically exploring the journey of food from paddock to plate as part of our Inquiry learning. Students investigated where food and fibre come from and developed an understanding of the many stages involved in getting food from farms to our tables.
As part of our hands-on learning, students explored the dairy industry by making their own butter from cream. After plenty of shaking, mixing and excitement, students enjoyed tasting their homemade butter on freshly baked scones, which they helped prepare and cook. This delicious activity helped students better understand how dairy products are made and gave them a real-life connection to food production.
Students have also been busy designing artwork for our school’s cow – Barbie Q. Working collaboratively, they created designs inspired by their paddock to plate learning. We are excited to begin painting the cow soon and cannot wait to see the finished result proudly displayed!
