National Reconciliation Week

Celebrating National Reconciliation Week

This week is the start of National Reconciliation Week (NRW)! NRW happens each year from May 27th to June 3rd. The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change. The theme also reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.

Although NRW commences on Wednesday, FPS students will be experiencing daily learning opportunities through our NRW program across the week beginning 1 June.

During this time, students will learn about:

  • Sorry Day
  • What reconciliation means and why it's important.
  • Mabo Day
  • Explore a wide range of First Nations authors and artists.
  • Discuss our community's contribution to reconciliation.
  • Participate in Wear It Yellow Day (Friday 5th June!) to fundraise for First Nations families.

In the meantime, here are some NRW challenges and resources you can explore as a family at home! You can also visit Deadly Story to find and engage with more about Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander stories and art.

Please Note: Some suggested media resources are for older children/adults.
