School Council Report

May School Council Meeting
The School Council met on 18 May. We were also joined by Emily King, Assistant Principal at Ashley Park Primary School in Doreen, who is spending four weeks with us as part of the Unlocking Potential mentoring program. It's been great having Emily around the school.
A few highlights from the meeting:
School Budget
The 2026 budget was presented and discussed, in particular parent contributions. While voluntary, these contributions play a significant role in our ability to provide extra benefits, like extended nurse hours and classroom resources. We acknowledge the challenges many families face, and encourage those who can to contribute. This year, we are tracking lower than previous years.
If you’re able to support the school, you can do so through the Compass app - just look for ‘Action Centre’ on the home screen and select ‘Contributions’ at the bottom – see the attached guide for full details.
FPS School Council Goals and Objectives
Council worked through and approved the updated School Council Goals and Objectives document, with some refinements around the role of school council and how we support the school.
Year 4 Camp
Year 4 Camp was discussed and approved, wishing all the year 4s a great time away!
Colour Fun Run
We're excited to approve a Colour Fun Run, championed by our FPS sports captain and to be held at the end of this term. It'll be on school grounds, with a focus on it being a fun community event! See Compass to set up your fundraising page!
Yard Redevelopment
Approval has been granted to enter into a construction contract for our yard redevelopment! Works are scheduled to start in the term three holidays and finish at the start of Term 1 2027.
Buddy Bench
A lovely idea brought forward by our Year 6 Community Leaders, the buddy bench was unanimously approved by council. It ties in beautifully with our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support work.
Policy Update
The following policy was reviewed and approved: Inclusion & Diversity Policy
Dogs on School Grounds
While in-hours signage and newsletter reminders have helped, we're still seeing issues outside school hours, particularly on weekends. We'll be exploring some new signage to help reinforce that this is where our children eat and play.
Trivia Night
The Social Committee reported that this year's trivia night will be our biggest ever! A huge thank you to everyone involved in the planning. There are still some last tickets remaining!
Our next meeting is on Monday 22 June.
