Sustainability Update

Biodiversity Audit
On May 4th, Bella from CERES visited FPS to lead a biodiversity audit of our school grounds. Anna’s Grade 6 class had the exciting opportunity to work alongside Bella, exploring different areas of the school and learning how to classify plants.
Together, students recorded and counted Indigenous and non-native trees, shrubs, groundcovers, insects, and other wildlife found across the campus. The audit provided valuable hands-on learning connected to science, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
The information collected during the audit will contribute to our ResourceSmart Schools Biodiversity Module and help guide the development of FPS’s Biodiversity Action Plan.
As a next step, staff will participate in a professional learning session facilitated by Bella, building staff knowledge and supporting a whole-school approach to biodiversity.
