Mr Dave Moran - Head of Department HPE

Welcome to HPE 2026

Representative Sport

West District & Metropolitan North

If your child is interested in participating in West District & Met North (12-19 yrs) sport this year, please read on for more information.

Trial process:

2026 marks the start of changes for our school's sport district which includes a different grouping of schools within our cluster for representative school sport.

For most sports, students must first attend a District Trial and aim to make the District Team. The Gap SHS is part of the West District, one of the six districts that make up Met North. All districts and regional trials will be held at South Pine Sports Complex, with the exceptions of the Big 3 (Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics).

In order to attend the District Trial, students must nominate for their sport. The District Team will attend a Regional Trial with the intent to make a Regional Team. Successful athletes will progress to the State Championships.

For all trials, a QR nomination code is provided to students who show interest in attending the trial. These trials are advertised through the student notices on DayMap and through this school newsletter.

Please do not contact West District or Met North directly for nominations as they will redirect you to your school contact.

We ask you to remind your child that it is their responsibility to find the trial information and complete the application. This level of responsibility is part of being an athlete, and is in line with the new District & Met North process.

Please encourage your student to visit the sports hall staffroom if they have any questions or make contact to Dave Moran dmora13@eq.edu.au HPE Head of Department.

West District and Regional Sport Trials

We have many opportunities for students to engage in the representative pathway for their chosen sport. Currently there are many trials fast approaching for a variety of sports and age groups. If your student would like to find out some further information please send them to the sports hall. We would be happy to assist.

West  Districts Trials Process

1. Discuss with HPE staff suitability to trial at the sports hall staffroom.

2. Nominate your intention to trial and fill out the form online using the QR code provided by the sports hall staff.

3. Following the expiry of the nomination date, West District will send the nominee details and forms regarding the trial.

These forms must be returned to Mr. Moran dmora13@eq.edu.au or Mr. Hottes thott4@eq.edu.au via email.
