Toilet Block Upgrades – Stage 2 SALTO Door Installation
As part of our ongoing commitment to student safety and wellbeing, the school continues to roll out swipe card access to student bathroom facilities. Following the introduction of this system in Term 2 2025, Stage 2 of the SALTO door upgrade was successfully installed over the Christmas break.
All student bathroom facilities across the school are now fitted with the SALTO system. This upgrade responds to feedback from students and families who shared concerns about safety, wellbeing and the misuse of bathroom spaces, including vaping and vandalism. These issues can impact students’ sense of belonging and their ability to fully engage at school, and we remain committed to addressing them.
As outlined during Stage 1, vandalism and misuse of amenities place a significant demand on school resources. While most students use these spaces respectfully, repeated incidents caused by a small number of individuals reduce access for others and require ongoing repair and cleaning. Swipe card access allows the school to better protect these shared facilities and support responsible use.
How it works
Students are required to use their ID cards to enter and exit student bathrooms. Doors open normally from the inside, ensuring safe and easy exit at all times. Staff keys remain available for emergencies and alternative amenities continue to be accessible for students who forget their cards.
At present, bathroom doors are programmed to remain unlocked until Year 7 ID cards arrive. Existing student ID cards from the previous year will remain valid until 31 March 2026.
We thank students, staff and families for their ongoing support and cooperation as this important work progresses.

The Gap State High School operates a Student Resource Scheme (SRS) to provide parents with a cost-effective alternative to purchasing textbooks and/or resources independently. Through bulk purchasing and resource‑hire arrangements, the scheme ensures students have access to the required materials to fully engage in their learning, while saving families both time and money.
Invoices for the SRS 2026 Part A fee have been issued to parents and caregivers. Thank you to the many families who have already made payment. Feasibility of this cost-effective scheme relies on the timely payment of fees, as unpaid invoices impact the school’s ability to provide essential resources to all students.
Invoices for elective subject fees, SRS Part B, C and D, will be issued in February when student timetables are finalised. Account statements are emailed to parents regularly -- if you have any queries or require clarification, please contact our accounts receivable team at accountsreceivable@thegapshs.eq.edu.au
Payment information and our refund policy can be found below:
Participation in the SRS is voluntary; however, it remains a proven, cost-effective option. Families who choose not to participate will be required to supply all necessary textbooks, learning resources and materials for their child.
The final 2026 SRS Year Level Booklets, which include the full resource lists and all subject-specific costings, are available on our school website.
