Earlier this year, 20 Italian Students of Years 9 and 10 participated in the Heats of the Dante Alighieri Poetry Competition. The students recited various poems from the different categories. Of these twenty students, six students were deemed to be of outstanding quality and recommended for the Finals. We commend all students for participating as reciting poetry to a group of unknown judges can be daunting and does take courage.
On Tuesday June 25, Stefania De Meo (Teacher - Italian) and six students, attended the Finals of Dante Alighieri Poetry Competition at the University of Melbourne. Brunswick Secondary College had six (6) finalists from Years 9 and 10 (5 students in Non-Italian Category and 1 student in Italian/Australian category).
We are proud to announce and congratulate Lucia Sardina Martin of Year 10 who was awarded first place for her recitation of the poem Chi Sono? di Aldo Palazzeschi.
In October, Lucia will represent BSC at the University of Melbourne, where she will present to all finalists, their families and friends. We congratulate her on her success to reach the Finalist Section of the Awards and we wish her the best on the day. Lucia has proved that hard work and diligence can result in success.
Bravissima Lucia in bocca al lupo (good luck)!
