Chills and Thrills...

... at O'Brien Icehouse

Our Year 8 students laced up their skates and glided into an unforgettable experience at O'Brien Icehouse on Thursday, September 5 and Friday, September 6.

Each of the two half-day excursions brought together four Year 8 classes at a time for a frosty adventure filled with fun and camaraderie.

Thursday’s Frozen Fun

On Thursday, it was the turn of 8R, 8N, 8W, and 8K to hit the ice. As they arrived at the state-of-the-art O'Brien Icehouse, the excitement was palpable. Students were quickly fitted with their skates and given a brief orientation by the ice rink staff. The afternoon began with a few tentative steps, but it wasn't long before everyone was gliding across the ice with newfound confidence. The atmosphere was electric, with laughter and cheers echoing through the rink.

Friday’s Frosty Fun

The following day, 8B, 8U, 8S, and 8C took to the ice. The second day of the excursion proved just as exhilarating, with our students embracing the icy challenge with enthusiasm. The event was a perfect mix of excitement and entertainment, providing a great opportunity for students to bond and enjoy a fun break from their usual routine.

Memorable Moments

Throughout both days, students had the chance to not only improve their skating skills but also develop teamwork and resilience. Whether it was perfecting a spin, mastering the art of gliding, or simply supporting friends who were a bit wobbly on their skates, the experience was one of teamwork and encouragement.

The excursion was a great success, thanks in part to the staff at O'Brien Icehouse and the enthusiastic participation of our students. A big thank you goes out to the teachers who helped ensure everything went smoothly – Mr. Pell, Ms. Jenkins, , Ms. Ghazale, Mr. Brooks, Ms. Bell, Mr. Simons, Ms. Goss, Ms. Blair, Ross Mortimer and Jacinta Vengtasamy.

We hope this icy adventure has created lasting memories and sparked a love for skating in our Year 8s.

Until next time, keep skating and stay cool!
