On the evening of Friday 23 August, myself and Jiawen Qu (Teacher - Chinese Mandarin) attended the University of Melbourne for the 2024 State Chinese Reading Competition

Representing BSC were two Year 8 students, Pelchen Dolma and Owen Hughes, and a Year 9 student, Eric Lee

There were over 160 participants in the contest,  and their courage to stand and speak in front of judges as well as other competitors and their families) is highly commended.

We congratulate Eric Lee for his dedication and hard work in mastering the Chinese intonation and reading with expression and fluency. His reading skills truly shone, and he was formally recognised when he was awarded third place in the competition.

Our two Year 8 students Pelchen and Owen, who were attending this event for the first time, showcased their outstanding language skills in reading Chinese in front of a huge audience.

All three students should be very proud of their achievement in having been selected to represent BSC in this highly competitive event, and for doing so with such accomplishment!
