Business Fair for Charity
The Year 10 Commerce class ran a Business Fair for Charity on Monday 9th September at lunchtime in the A block courtyard.
The students had prepared by working in groups - using their entrepreneurial skills to choose a product to make, advertise and then sell to the school community. Stalls sold products such as sausages, cakes, doughnuts, rice paper rolls, skewers, pretzels and soft drinks. It was a challenging undertaking which proved very successful and lots of fun for all the participants!
The advertising material which had been put up around the school generated lots of expectation and interest. The courtyard filled quickly with students from all year levels keen to see what was on sale. There was a buzz and a real market vibe as sellers sold to grateful customers and most of the stalls were sold out by the end of lunchtime!
The Year 10 Commerce students demonstrated great entrepreneurial flair, teamwork and planning skills - resulting in them all making a profit at the Fair.
“Very successful!”
“A good opportunity to learn how to handle money and manage inventory”.
“I enjoyed the selling part…..bartering with the customers was fun!”
Profits - a whopping $552.68 - were collectively donated to The Orangutan Project.
This charity was chosen by the group that had made the largest profit on the day – Coco Balmain, Amelie Brown, Poppy Dohrman and Aksyaj Homagain .
The class extends a big thank you to Ray Stivala (Facilities Manager) for setting up the trestle tables and BBQ for the students!!
