Flying School excursion

Our Year 10 Physics classes spent a day at Lilydale Flying School, putting their classroom learning into action in a truly hands-on way.    During the visit, students explored the concept of lift, how control surfaces affect flight and the importance of weight distribution. They then had the exciting opportunity to experience a real flight in a Piper aeroplane over the Yarra Valley, as well as take the controls themselves in a flight simulator. They even flew over LHC! Check out the images below.    Students also visited the hangars, where they learned about aeroplane maintenance and viewed a range of aircraft up close.  What an incredible experience for our Physics students!
