SPORT
The first term was very busy for sport at Footscray City College. We had our school swimming carnival at St Albans Leisure Centre where competitors were selected to represent our school at division level. At the district swimming, our ability was obvious with over 20 swimmers progressing to Western Metropolitan Regional Finals in Geelong on the 2nd last day of Term 1. The division winners were: Luke Bearman 200m Freestyle & 50m Freestyle, Jake Mannix 50m Breastroke, Oliver Byrnes 50m Backstroke (Year 7), Sabina Burkitt 100m Freestyle, Lloyd Deunk 50m Breastroke & 100m Freestyle, Sophie Parnham 50m Butterfly, Marlowe Wilton 50m Butterfly & 50m Freestyle, Isaac Tapson 50m Backstroke (Year 8), Josh White 50m Breastroke, Sadie Simmonds 50m Freestyle (Year 9), Kingston Keen 50m Breastroke & 50m Butterfly (Year 11), Gene McLay 100m Freestyle (Year 12) as well as our Girls & Boys 12-14 yo Medley Relays, 17-20 yo Boys Medley Relay and Girls 13, Boys 14, Boys 15 & Girls 16yo Freestyle Relay teams.
We have also had huge numbers of students represent the school in inter-school competitions in cricket, volleyball, tennis, and baseball in Term 1. The feedback from coaches and umpires was that our students competed in the correct spirit which is very pleasing. Congratulations to the following summer sport team winners who won their local competitions this term and now progress to Western Metropolitan Region Finals later in the year:
