HEALTH PROMOTION

SAGA (SEXUALITY AND GENDER ALLIANCE)

SAGA is an inclusive group for students who identify as LGBTIQ+ and friends/allies. We meet Monday lunchtimes to chat, eat lunch, listen to music, do the occasional quiz and help organise some of the wellbeing events throughout the year.

I have had the absolute privilege to facilitate this group over the past 2 years but due to study commitments I am leaving FCC and will hand over the care of this awesome bunch of students to teacher Rachel Beagley. The new health promotion nurse Jess Winter will also be involved and take over my role at the commencement of term 2.

I would like to thank all the students who make SAGA what it is. Such a polite, confident and respectful group of individuals and I am so proud of each one of you. Remember to embrace any changes that may come with new facilitators and look after one another.

Thanks Gang.

BULLYING NO WAY DAY

Throughout the year Footscray City College works hard to ensure that any complaints of bullying are addressed promptly. Bullying No Way is an event that encourages all at FCC to consider their own behaviour and how this may impact on others and our school community as a whole.

To mark this day all year 7 and 8 home groups watched several clips that addressed bullying in its various forms and then discussed them.

An anti bullying slogan competition was also held. First prize, a double movie pass donated by the very generous Sun Theatre in Yarraville, was won by Isabelle Alston from 7G.
