Co-Curricular Report

CIS Primary and Secondary Cross Country

On Wednesday 8 June we had the following students from both our primary school and secondary school compete at the CIS Cross Country in Sydney: Jaymi Clancy, Dylan Scoble, Peaches Starritt and Heidi McIntosh all represented RAS at the CIS Primary and Secondary Cross Country Championships. They all had a great time and as a school we are extremely proud of these students who were able to qualify for this level which is an outstanding achievement.

Primary Gymnastics Club

Primary Gymnastics Club has been very busy this term. We have had lots of interest from the K-3 students who have been coming on Tuesdays and a core group of students in Years 4-6 have consistently worked on improving their skills on Wednesday lunchtimes. These students have obviously loved coming to gymnastics club and Jamison and I have enjoyed their enthusiasm to do gymnastics. As we are now approaching the Inter School Competition which is open for students in years 2-6 we are wrapping up general gymnastics club for the year, and will now be working on selecting and preparing the team to compete at the InterSchool Competition next term.

Next week I will complete tryouts for the InterSchool Competition in Melbourne in Term 3 Week 7. Anyone in years 2-6 wanting to tryout for the team will need to attend tryouts on Tuesday next week, with any final call backs occurring on Wednesday next week. Students who make the team will need to commit to training once per week until the competition in order to learn the routines and prepare for the competition.

For those students in Kinder and Year 1, who have really enjoyed coming to gymnastics club, I will explore the option of offering more opportunity to do gymnastics after the Interschool Competition.
