Primary Report
From the Primary Office
Teachers have been busy completing the Semester 1 individual student reports. These show the progress students have made in all of their subjects for Term 1 and Term 2. Comments are provided for Pastoral Care, English and Mathematics. Reports can be accessed via SEQTA Engage at the end of the school day on Friday 24 June. To view your child/ren’s individual reports, parents need to log into their SEQTA Engage portal. If you experience difficulties, accessing SEQTA Engage, please contact our IT help desk at help@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au. Our IT staff will happily assist you with this process.
Next week, we welcome two Year 10 students who will complete their Work Experience in the Primary School. Scarlett will work with Mr Brett Harris in the PDHPE/Sport department and the 3B classroom. Emma will work mostly in Year 1B alongside Mrs Andrea Ripon. Please contact the school if you have any questions about the Work Experience program.
Next Friday 24 June, marks the last day of Term 2. We will have an early finish at 2:05pm. Buses will arrive one hour ahead of their normal scheduled times. Our students and staff are looking forward to a restful break after a very busy term. We hope that you can all find time to recharge and connect with your families and friends over the 2-week holiday period. Travel safely and keep warm and well. The office will be open from 9am to 3pm over the 2-week holiday in case you need to contact the school.
Term 3 starts on Tuesday 12 July for students. Staff are involved in Deep Learning Professional Development on Monday 11 July; however, the Primary Office will be open.
Complimentary Preschool Workshops
Through engaging student workshops, it has been great to create and strengthen connections with our local Preschools and Kindergartens. This term, we have visited several Preschools and Kindergartens who have enjoyed the Music, PE and Italian workshops on offer. Our Year 6 student leaders have been great role models for the younger students and they have supported Mr Harris and Mrs Tonkin with the delivery of the engaging activities.
In the last fortnight, we were able to visit three Centres who all selected the Music Workshop. Music is said to provide a unique opportunity for literacy preparation. Whether the children are singing, playing, or listening, teachers direct them to listen and hear in new ways which exercises their aural discrimination. We thank the educators at Pink and Blue Early Learning, Rochester & District Child Care Centre and Shine Bright Echuca South Community Kindergarten for welcoming us into their rooms.
DaVinci Decathlon State Finals
Congratulations to the 8 Year 5/6 students who represented the Riverina area in the NSW DaVinci Decathlon State Finals. Whilst the students did not place in the top 15 this year out of the 80+ teams, lots of fun was had and great lessons around collaboration were learnt. The students are excited to try again in 2023. A big thank you to Mr Davidson, Mrs Rykers and Miss Briggs for giving up many lunchtimes to mentor the students and getting them ready for the competition.
Year 4 Deep Learning Maths Inquiry Bridge Building
For Deep Learning this term, Year 4 students have been exploring Critical Thinking and Creativity.
Through the use of a hands-on task, the students have used their skills learnt in Mathematics to help them investigate, plan and construct model bridges with a variety of materials. The students have applied their Critical Thinking skills, considering how their bridges should be designed, constructed and priced in a real-world scenario to ensure practicality and purpose.
The students are very excited to share their learning with the Primary students next week, and we hope you can come along to talk to them about their learning journey as well.
Year 5 Camp
In the first week next term, the Year 5 students will attend their Year Level camp at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat. Due to COVID restrictions in the last couple of years, the students embark on their first overnight camp experience, something they are very excited about. Parents have been provided with the necessary information and we ask that parents return the required eForms promptly to assist staff with the final preparations. We wish everyone a wonderful time and look forward to hearing all about the special experiences and some great photos.
Lions Club Public Speaking Competition
Best wishes to Emma Coffey in Year 4 and Keisha Hall in Year 5 who will represent the school this Sunday 19 June at Echuca College in the Lions Club Public Speaking competition. Both students are well organised and have been very busy preparing for the local competition. The students are confident and looking forward to presenting their speeches to judges and a large audience.
