At St Francis Xavier School

Greetings St Francis Xavier Families,

Get ready for a busy term with lots of wonderful events to complement and enhance our children's learning. This includes the Faith curriculum starting with our Andrew Chinn visit next Tuesday.  For those of you who are not familiar with Andrew, he is an amazing composer and performer of faith songs, many of which are familiar to our students.

If you're free next Tuesday afternoon I encourage you to come along to the Red Centre from 2 - 3pm and enjoy each class performing the songs they have workshopped with Andrew throughout the day.

Whole School Prayer

It was wonderful to see a few more than usual family members at Whole School Prayer on the last day of Term 3. In keeping with the Footy Day celebration the prayer included reflecting on how our faith compares to the aims and practices of a football team. It also highlighted some of the Australian and international players whose belief in God has significantly impacted on their lives, both within and outside their sport.

“What will be in football will be, but the most important thing for me in my life right now is my faith, my relationship with God and my relationship with my family.”

Matt Kennedy, Western Bulldogs

“That was a big thing for me, getting the award that night, and it has been a challenge. But once I got up there it was easier and I feel I owe everything to God and that's why I'm here. I got a lot of love and support from players from other clubs who reached out after that night as well, who said they have faith in God too, so that was really cool.”

Ollie Dempsey, Geelong Cats (and winner of the Telstra Rising Star Award 2024)

“It is clear to me that I was born this way because God chose me. It was a gift that He gave me, and then I tried to make the most of it.”

Lionel Messi, Inter Miami CF

A big thank you to the Year 5/6 students who volunteered to present the Footy Day Whole School Prayer.

We will continue Whole School Prayer this term, on various days, and will always alert you as to when they are taking place.

October - Month of the Rosary

The Catholic faith recognises October as the month of the Rosary.  Classes will be looking at the purpose of the rosary and rosary beads. If any families would like to borrow the school rosary beads and/or be provided with information about them, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Confirmation 2025

Nine of our Year 6 students are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. On Thursday they participated in a special excursion into Melbourne where they undertook a guided tour of St Patrick's Cathedral and the Mary Mackillop Centre in East Melbourne.  It was lovely to receive feedback from the students as to how much they enjoyed the experience and what they had learned.

Warmest wishes and God's blessings,
