Dear Grade 5/6 Families,
It has been a fantastic couple of weeks in Grade 5/6!
In particular, students have been thoroughly enjoying our Team Sport sessions. It has been wonderful to see them developing their skills, playing with peers, and demonstrating positive sportsmanship. These sessions continue to be a highlight of the week!
A couple of important reminders for families:
Smart Watches: Students are not permitted to wear smart watches at school. We appreciate your support in ensuring these devices remain at home or are handed into the office before school.
School Uniform: As the weather becomes colder, please ensure that students are wearing appropriate school uniform jumpers to stay warm. Please let your child’s teacher know if support is required.
This week, we have continued our Multiplication and Division unit in Maths and our Persuasive Writing unit in Literacy. Students explored persuasive writing through engaging topics such as:
Who would win – a gorilla or a shark?
Should sport be compulsory every day?
Ask your child which topic they chose and why. It would be great for them to share the reasons behind their thinking.
Looking ahead to Term 2, students will begin a new Science unit. They will work with their class alongside another Grade 5/6 teacher. Our new Topic unit will be ‘A Diverse and Connected World’, and our Respectful Relationships focus will be ‘Personal and Cultural Strengths’.
