What's happening around our school...

Prep

The Prep children have been learning all about patterns! We can sing a pattern, dance a pattern, clap a pattern, stomp a pattern and make patterns with all sorts of things in the classroom. We know a pattern repeats over and over and over and over again.

We have been busy learning the names and sounds different letters make. We are practising how to write them and matching their cued articulation signs!

Look at how clever we are… we are learning how to write CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words and use a phoneme fist to count and segment all the sounds we can hear.

Grades 1& 2

Grade 1/2 – Building Number Sense Through Games 🎲

In Grade 1/2, we have been having lots of fun playing hands-on maths games to strengthen our number sense and fluency skills. Through activities such as dice games, card games, and quick-fire number challenges, students are practising counting, subitising, addition, and subtraction facts, and recognising number patterns.

These engaging games help students develop confidence with numbers, think flexibly, and explain their mathematical thinking. Playing games also encourages turn-taking, problem-solving, and positive learning behaviours.

It has been wonderful to see students building both their skills and their enjoyment of Maths!

Grades 3&4

Grade 3/4P have been thoroughly enjoying their sessions in the garden. We have been very lucky with the beautiful sunshine, which has helped our plants thrive. Students have been busy picking tomatoes for use in future kitchen classes, deadheading plants to encourage new growth, topping up garden beds with fresh potting mix, weeding, searching for snails and caterpillars, and taking pride in caring for the grounds by sweeping and tidying.

There is always great excitement when students are able to harvest vegetables they have grown themselves and then use them in their cooking lessons the following week. Take a look at these big, shiny tomatoes – a wonderful reward for all their hard work!

Grades 5 & 6

Our Year 5/6 students have been working together to build strong and inclusive class communities. They have explored what mindfulness is (and isn’t), and how it can support focus, wellbeing and positive choices at school. Students have also discussed how to show our school values across different areas of school life, sharing ideas and then voting on their peers’ suggestions. This process has supported respectful discussion, collaboration and democratic decision-making
