Target Games in P.E

Over the past 3 weeks the Year 5 and 6 students have been working in small groups to create a rolling target game using the lawn bowls for the rest of the school to play in P.E.

They had to plan their game and include the aim, rules, equipment used, a diagram and a scoring system. Each game was played with at least 2 classes. They then provided feedback which was passed onto the Year 5 and 6 students who refined the game before their own classes played them.

The Multipurpose Room was a hype of activity with lots of smiles and laughter.

Each class voted on their favourite game:

PA, 1A - Rookie Rollers (Ebony, Indhi, Milla, Mikayla & Chelsea)

1B, 3A, 3B - Feed The Cow (Benny, Isaac, Jet, Jackson W & Zennin)

1C - Bad Pins (Praise, Nellie & Isabelle)

2A, 6B - The 6’s Cave (Emma, Lochlan & Elena)

PB, 2B, 3/4C, 5A - Cone Wars (Brody, Oscar, Axel & Paddy)

4A - Steal the Chickens (Matilda, Marlee, Mia & Paula)

4B - Tunnel Run (Eli, De Andre, Chase & Cove)

5B - Sheep in the Pen (Jack, Blake, Lucas, Tate & Blair)

6A - Penalty Pins (Brooklyn, Jake, Reeve, Hamish, Archer & Jackson S)

Summer Lightning Premier Sports

On Wednesday 2nd September the year 5 and 6 students headed off to compete against schools in our district in the sports of cricket, volleyball, basketball and softball.

Each student gave it their best with lots of students playing sports they had not played before. They all showed determination and are to be commended for the way they displayed the school values.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who assisted on the day, without you the day would not have been as successful.

A further congratulations to the boys basketball and cricket teams who have progressed to the Division finals to be held next term.

Junior Swimming Program

In Week 8 students from Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 attended a 5 day swimming program. This program not only strengthens their skills in the water but also provides key learning on water safety. It also is an opportunity for students to build on their independence by getting themselves dressed and being responsible for their belongings. The students are to be commended for displaying the school values, the swim teachers commented on how responsible they were. Great work Junior School!

Cricket Clinics

Some classes were lucky enough to take part in a free cricket clinic run by coaches from Cricket Victoria. The students engaged in a variety of modified skills and games which involved bowling, catching and striking.

Social Wellbeing

Foundation

Our Foundation students have been learning about the importance of having a flexible thinking brain, using the analogy of a palm tree to explore how we can bend, adapt and respond positively when faced with challenges or changes. Students have also been introduced to the idea of a growth mindset, developing an understanding that our abilities can grow through effort, practice, perseverance and learning from mistakes.

Junior School

In Junior School, students have been discussing what it means to be brave and resilient. They have explored different ways we can show courage when things feel challenging or unfamiliar, and how resilience can help us keep trying when things don't go as planned. Students then put these ideas into practice through a range of teamwork activities, focusing on cooperation, communication and encouraging others.

Senior School

Years 5 and 6 have been completing their units on Hardball and Mustangs FC. Through watching episodes and engaging in discussions, students have explored a variety of important themes, including appropriate ICT use, stereotypes, challenges faced by individuals and groups, and ways to resolve conflict. These discussions have provided valuable opportunities for students to think critically about the choices people make, how our actions can affect others, and the importance of respectful and responsible behaviour.

Congratulations to all our wonderful students on an incredible school concert! CSPS – A Journey to 70 was a wonderful celebration of our school’s history, bringing together the people, memories and milestones that have shaped our school over the past 70 years. A huge thank you to all dedicated staff for their hard work and commitment in bringing this special celebration to life, and to our families for their support, encouragement and amazing outfits!
