Spring Into Learning Beyond the Screen

As we head into the school holidays and welcome the warmer days of spring, it’s a great opportunity to step away from the usual school routines and enjoy some quality time together as a family.

Where possible, consider making the most of the beautiful spring weather and swapping some screen time for time outside. Limiting recreational screen time can create more opportunities for children to move, play, talk, imagine, problem-solve and connect with others.  

Before the screen, make time to…eat, move, read, create, help, explore and connect.

Holiday Homework

Looking for some ways for your child to maintain their learning growth over the holiday period?

Reading

Make time for reading every day, even if it's only 15 minutes. Read together, listen to your child read, visit the library, share a favourite book. 

Essential Assessment (Grade 1 - 6)

Students can also complete some short Literacy and Numeracy practice through their online My Literacy and My Numeracy activities on Essential Assessment. A little practice over the holidays will help students maintain their fluency, consolidate their learning and return to school feeling confident and ready for Term 4.

Help your child to read and write    

Want to learn more about how your child is taught to read and spell at school?
