Road Smart Interactive 

This week the year 9s and 10s were lucky enough to engage in a Road Safety incursion at school, directly relating to the Year 9 Health and the Year 10 Futures unit of study on Road Safety. 

The Road Smart Interactive is a new, evidence based, highly interactive road safety education program that is free for all Victorian Secondary Schools. Road Smart Interactive is designed to reflect contemporary, best-practice approaches to road safety 

education. It utilises the latest immersive technology to guide students through a series of experiences that will engage students in thinking about how they can be part of the solution to eliminating road trauma. 

As part of the incursion, students participated in a group discussion and then completed six different stations of activities. Overall, it was a very informative and engaging session and students reflected that they learnt a lot. 

Here are some comments from students who participated in the activities: 

Liv H – I enjoyed the activities because they were engaging and fun to do. The staff were really kind and gave us help and support when we needed it.  

Will – The activities yesterday were very engaging and throughout the whole time I felt constantly interested. My favorite activity yesterday was the station number 2 one, it was very fun to see how many different ways there were to save the lives of the cyclists from getting rammed very violently. :)  

 Amelie – I enjoyed yesterdays road safety activities. The use of technology was very engaging and the content was useful. Although none of us will be able to drive for a while, it was very informative and I liked the whole experience. 

Yasara – I really enjoyed yesterday’s session about road safety as they had very fun stuff for us to do and to make it more intriguing, I learnt a lot. 

 Emonefe – I really enjoyed yesterday’s session it was really fun and we got to do interesting stuff. I wish we could actually play VR but overall it was fun and I would definitely do it again if it the same thing. 

 Ethan - I enjoyed the interactivity of the different activities. Overall it was a lot of fun and was very engaging.
